Which part of my computer will need to be upgraded first?

Question by Steve: Which part of my computer will need to be upgraded first?
I am going to be building my first computer soon and here are the parts I bought:

ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

HIS IceQ Boost Clock H795QC3G2M Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video …

Intel 330 Series Maple Crest SSDSC2CT120A3K5 2.5″ 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit (Full Version) – OEM

Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00

Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5″ Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner – Bulk – OEM

Antec Nine Hundred Two V3 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000

CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

I want to make sure nothing is bottlenecking other parts. Also, which component will need to upgraded in the near future? I haven’t gotten the parts yet and am considering sending the i5-3570k back because the i7-3770k is only $ 70 more. I am going to be using this for gaming/other college student things.

well…as far as i can tell you are definitely going to be switching out that mid size tower. probably as soon as you see that all those parts wont fit in it.
you need a full tower to fit those giant radeons in there.

the next thing youll probably be replacing is that shiny new i7 you wanna get after it burns itself out because you are using a stock fan for it.

That’s very similar to the Baseline system that MaximumPC magazine built (and upgrades every month). Compare it to their next bigger Performance machine. Also look at their Best-of-the-Best column, where they would agree with you about the upgrade to the i7-3770. They’d probably also suggest either a HD 7870 or GTX660ti video card.

    Liquid cooling system.
    Case fan(s)
    More RAM.
    External HDs
Another Windows OS, since yours is OEM and cannot be upgraded in future.

The gambit illustrates how much work it takes to get viewers to focus on old-school TV commercials. Time was, running an ad in a popular program such as “Revenge” was its own rewardhttp://tinyurl.com/dxynhdq.
